A Day in the Life of What I Eat

A Typical Day of Eating for Me at 76

People often ask me what I eat in a day, so I thought I’d share a sample of how I typically eat while following my 80/20 Diet Plan.

The meals below represent the “80%” part of my plan—the foods that nourish my body with protein, fiber, healthy fats, and plenty of nutrients. As for the other 20%? I enjoy it without guilt or apology. That might be a dessert, a glass of wine with dinner, or an occasional martini. I believe healthy eating should be enjoyable and sustainable.

On most weekdays, breakfast is oatmeal with added protein, Greek yogurt, and fruit. On weekends, I like to change things up. One of my favorite breakfasts is the Protein Cheese Blintz recipe you’ll find below. I usually enjoy two blintzes instead of one and top them with fresh fruit and a dollop of Greek yogurt for even more protein.

Every afternoon, I enjoy a sweet treat with my Nespresso coffee. Over the years, I’ve learned not to add sugar to my drinks, and I don’t use artificial sweeteners or artificial ingredients. Instead, I focus on building habits that I can maintain for life.

These are the habits that have helped me reach 76 feeling strong, energetic, and confident in my body. What’s interesting is that when I was younger, I was often critical of my body and rarely satisfied with how I looked. Today, I appreciate my body for all it allows me to do, and I can honestly say I love the body I’m in.

I’ve learned a great deal throughout my journey, and one of my greatest joys is sharing what I’ve learned with other women. My hope is that these recipes and ideas inspire you to find an approach to eating that feels enjoyable, realistic, and sustainable for you, too.
